How to Grow
Leeks are a long season plant so start seed indoors in February and early March. Sow the seed 7 mm deep in a soil-less medium and keep at 20° C during germination and growth. Transplant seedlings outside later in the spring when they are around 20 cm tall. Space the transplants 10-15 cm apart in rows 30-45 cm apart. Seed can also be sown directly into the garden in April through June. Germination occurs in 10-14 days.
