A great container plant or grow as a dense ground cover in the garden bed. Produces an abundance of intense rose coloured flowers from June on and exceptionally deep red leaves when grown in full sun. Stonecrops are beautiful succulents with a unique fleshy foliage that blooms from spring right through fall. They are undemanding and spectacular garden plants. Typically low growing they are used for edgings, low borders, trailing over walls or growing between cracks in stones.
How to Grow
Start seed indoors early February in a soilless medium and germinate at a temperature of 20-24°C (70-75°F) for 15-30 days. Grow on under lights before hardening off and transplanting outdoors to a sunny location. Outdoors they prefer a thin, poor, gritty soil with good drainage rather than a compost rich soil.
When you want more plants for the garden, simply break off a piece and poke it into the soil in a new location. Keep watered for the first few weeks.
Note – we offer pelleted seed only for ease of handling. Mist until the pellet is dissolved or germination will not occur.
