Description
Cup & Saucer Mixed Canterbury Bells Seeds 6385. Open Pollinated. Perennial.
Approx. 500 seeds/pkt (4,200 seeds/gram)
Cup and Saucer Mixed provides colourful plants for rockeries or perennial borders in full sun or light shade. Bell shaped flowers with a flat base ring forth from strong flowering stems in a myriad of colours including white, pink, deep blue and rose. Garden height is 75 cm . Canterbury Bells are biennials, which means they grow from seed through the first season, overwinter as a plant then flower the second season before going to seed and dying. We recommend sowing seed in two consecutive years to ensure yearly flowering. Hardy to Zone 5.
How to Grow
Sow seed every year for continuous blooms as biennials only bloom every second year. Sow indoors in a soil-less mix in January for a chance at first season blooms. Germinates at 20° C in 14-20 days. Cover seed lightly and keep moist. Grow on under lights at a slightly cooler temperature before hardening off and transplanting to a sunny to partially shaded site in the garden. Seed can also be sown directly in the garden in May or again in August and September. This plant does best in a well drained open soil.
