Description
Only the Lonely Flowering Tobacco Seeds 5227. Heirloom Flower. Annual.
Approx. 100 seeds/pkt (27,000 seeds/gram)
This old school favourite makes a very stately plant in the flower border. Growing to 150 cm in height (depending on growing conditions), Only The Lonely is an ideal choice for the back of the border in sunny to partially shaded sites. Numerous trumpet shaped flowers form clusters from the top of the plant. Flower colour and shape will vary. White trumpet-form being the most common. Seeds are collected from open pollinated crops. Some crop years see a dominance of pink to crimson coloured blooms. Flowers have an intoxicating fragrance that is particularly inviting on still, warm summer nights. As this plant flowers from mid-summer on, it is suitable for extending the flowering period of your garden to the first frost of fall! An attractive pollinator plant for moths.
How to Grow
Start seed indoors in a soil-less mix six weeks before the last spring frost date. Leave seed uncovered on the surface of the growing medium. Keep at 21-24° C for the approximately 15 day germination period. After germination grow on under lights at a slightly cooler temperature of 17° C. Transplant to the garden in mid to late May after the danger of frost has passed spacing them 45 cm apart.
